Starbucks Workers United announced that more than 1,000 unionized workers plan to strike at 65 U.S. stores on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Workers and the union have been asking Starbucks to negotiate higher pay and better hours.
Thursday is Red Cup Day, a special promotion that is one of Starbucks’ busiest days of the year.
About 550 Starbucks stores are unionized. Starbucks closed 59 unionized stores in September.
Stores in New York, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, San Diego, St. Louis, Dallas, Columbus, Ohio, and Starbucks’ home city of Seattle will feature strikes.
