After 11 of its orthopedic surgeons resigned last year, SSM Health announced that orthopedic surgeons from UW Health will begin operating at SSM Health’s St. Mary’s Hospitals in Madison and Janesville, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.
Those 11 former SSM Health orthopedic surgeons opened their own competing practice — Orthopedic and Spine Centers of Wisconsin — this week in Madison.
Under a new agreement, SSM Health will provide time, facility space, and support services for UW Health orthopedic surgeons to care for both UW Health and SSM Health patients at the two St. Mary’s hospitals.
