In its fiscal fourth quarter ending Sept. 30, Middleton-based Spectrum Brands Holdings saw improvement nearly across the board. Profits came in at $47.9 million (90 cents/share) on revenues of $1.18 billion, up from a net loss of $36.7 million (70 cents/share) on revenues of $1.14 billion for the same period a year ago.

For the full year, the company earned $214.1 million ($4.02/share) on $443 billion in revenues compared to 2013, when it recorded a net loss of $55.2 million ($1.06/share) on sales of $4.09 billion. The 2013 number was affected by $122 million in expenses related to a refinancing of $950 million in debt.

Spectrum saw improvements in every category except pet supplies in 2014, but it still missed Wall Street projections of $1.12 per share by coming in at an adjusted 98 cents per share, according to Zacks Investment Research.
