A special city committee is recommending a $65 million proposal from Gebhart Development and Metcalfe’s Market to spark redevelopment of the East Washington corridor. The proposal for the 800 block of East Washington Avenue includes a 50,000-sq.-ft. grocery and bistro, a rooftop garden, and a mix of rental, owner-occupied, and live/work housing units.
Two other proposals are also being considered, one from T. Wall Enterprises and one from C.D. Smith, both of which are teaming up with Fresh Madison Market.
The committee will vote on the proposals this week.
