Sotto Night Club owner Susan McKinney is proposing a new club called Cielo in the building that formerly housed Diego’s Mexican Bistro at 118 State St., according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The 5,600-square-foot space would be a music venue for house and techno music and also feature a bar and grill offering small plates.
McKinney asked the city to allow for alcohol sales at Cielo in addition to other permits that will be reviewed and discussed by the Plan Commission in December. The club’s target market would be people ages 30–40 who are fans of electronic dance music (EDM).
The club would offer dance classes and events on weeknights, including tastings. Wednesdays would feature experts giving cocktail mixing presentations. The club would also have a DJ on Thursday–Saturday nights.
Cielo would employ around 11 people, comprising kitchen staff, bartenders, servers, and security staff.
