Sonic Foundry boosts revenues

Sonic Foundry reported a 38% increase in revenues for its fiscal second quarter ending March 31, 2014, compared to the second quarter of fiscal 2013, but the Madison company’s GAAP net losses widened from $27,000 (1 cent/share) last year to $871,000 (21 cents/share) this year. Revenues, which include financial results of the company’s recently completed acquisitions of Mediasite KK and MediaMission BV, were $8.9 million for the quarter, up from $6.4 million a year earlier.

CEO Gary Weis said in a release, “The second quarter of fiscal 2014 marks our most successful quarter in company history — from the perspective of both revenue and billings.” Billings came in at $10.3 million for the quarter, a jump of 57% year over year, up from $6.6 million (non-GAAP).
