Soglin wants liquor moratorium downtown

After recently vetoing plans for additional liquor licenses in downtown Madison, Mayor Paul Soglin is now hoping to bar any new liquor licenses in a 45-block area, stretching from State Street to parts of Monroe Street.

His proposal would not include hotels.

The idea is receiving mixed reactions, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
