Madison Mayor Paul Soglin has introduced his largest capital budget ever, a $247.6 million plan for 2015 that proposes new neighborhood centers, moves ahead on portions of the Judge Doyle Square project, and supports a public market and low-cost housing with millions of dollars.
As many as two neighborhood centers are included in the proposal, at a cost of $8.3 million, with more than half of that coming from as-yet-unnamed private sources.
The budget also includes money to begin renovations on the Madison Municipal Building and to replace the Government East parking garage, two key parts of the Judge Doyle Square project.
A subsidized housing proposal would provide $4.2 million to a new Affordable Housing Fund, and another $8.5 million would go toward a public market.
