Detroit, Michigan-based SmithGroup has been chosen to join the design team for the new $120 million Wisconsin Historical Museum at 30 N. Carroll St. on the Capitol Square, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The firm will work as a design and engineering team with Milwaukee-based Continuum Architects + Planners to build a four-story, 100,000-square-foot facility that will replace the current museum and adjacent properties. SmithGroup’s portfolio projects include the National Museum of African History and Culture in Washington, D.C., and Alumni Park at UW–Madison. The design phase of the project is set to begin this summer.
