SHINE Medical Technologies, Inc. has submitted a construction permit application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), which is the first step in seeking an NRC permit to begin construction near Janesville on a medical isotope facility. The process can take up to 18 months.

If approved, the SHINE facility will manufacture and distribute domestically produced medical isotopes for the nuclear medicine field using a process and technology developed in partnership with the Morgridge Institute for Research and UW-Madison.
