Sheboygan Press: County fails to meet new ozone standards

Sheboygan County is the only county in the state that has failed to meet new federal ozone standards, state officials said Wednesday.

According to the state Department of Natural Resources, Sheboygan County “barely” exceeded the Environmental Protection Agency’s 8-hour ozone standard of 75 parts per billion, meaning it will be designated as a marginal nonattainment area.

That’s the lowest of six classifications and carries the fewest regulatory requirements.
