Senate passes mining bill

After nine hours of debates, the Republican-majority Senate rejected Democratic arguments and amendments and passed the mining bill on a vote of 17-16, with Republican Dale Schultz of Richland Center voting with Democrats, as he did a year ago. The measure now moves to the Assembly for final passage.
