The U.S Senate has passed a $483 billion aid package to replenish a small-business payroll fund and provide new money for hospitals and COVID-19 testing.
Passage was swift and unanimous, according to an article in the Associated Press, and the measure now goes to the House of Representatives, with votes set for Thursday.
President Donald Trump urged the House to pass the bill and pledged to sign it into law.
It represents the fourth rescue package considered by Congress to help the economy weather the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most of the funding, $331 billion, would go to boost a small business loan program that ran out of money last week.
Yet another bill could be forthcoming to provide fiscal relief to financially strapped state and local governments.
