The Adopt a Dairy Cow initiative, created by Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin to remedy a shortage of milk donations to the local pantry, raised over $168,000 this year, according to WMTV15. The money raised exceeded the organization’s goal by over $18,000 and surpassed last year’s total of $150,000.
Since the program’s launch 10 years ago, over 300,000 gallons of milk have been provided to those facing nutrition insecurity in the state’s southwestern region. Milk is among the most-requested items by food pantry partners.
