The Sears store at West Towne Mall in Madison will close in late September and its automotive store will close a month earlier, at the end of August, according to a release from Sears Holdings, the retailer’s parent company.
The West Towne location is one of nearly 100 K-Mart and Sears stores closing around the country this fall. Most recently, the West Towne Mall Sears store had been downsized to allow for the addition of a Total Wine & More and a Dave & Busters.
The company wants to focus on its best stores, the release says. “We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which are a critical component in our transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed and as warranted.”
Sears at East Towne Mall is currently not on the closure list.
