Noting that it currently does not own land for new schools on the far west side, Madison School Board members voted to submit a $2,050,000 offer for an eight-acre parcel of land in a future Veridian Homes subdivision named Acacia Ridge.
On a narrow 4–3 vote, the Board’s offer to purchase does not guarantee that a closing will indeed occur, according to the Wisconsin State Journal, but with a projection of 1,100 more students in the area by 2037, the need for a possible new elementary school is being considered.
