After blocking the sale of SSM Health nursing homes in Madison, Baraboo, and Waupun to New Jersey company Complete Care, Wisconsin officials have approved a probationary license that will allow the purchase but require the buyer to meet quality of care and finance-related conditions, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The agreement reached Dec. 20 with the state Department of Health Services will require Complete Care to take specific steps in the event of multiple serious regulatory violations; provide explanations for multiple recent incidents at the Madison facility; and file monthly financial reports. The conditions will be in effect for one year. Failure to meet them will result in revocation of the probationary license without the right to appeal.
