Plans for former supper club the Gobbler, a roadside fixture along I-94 for over 50 years that was intended to become the new Galaxie Theater, are once again on hold, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The building, which had been converted into a concert venue by Milwaukee trucking magnate Dan Manesis, was leased by Steve Paulet and his wife, Rachel Bauer, who planned to expand on Manesis’ vision after his death in 2021. They planned for the venue to host a range of musical acts, with multiple shows per week. The main stage would host live recording sessions and piano recitals; the basement would be home to a rehearsal space and acoustic stage.

Just days before Paulet and Bauer were scheduled to close on the sale of the 9.6-acre property in August, however, Paulet suffered severe injuries to both his knees after falling at his home. With months of recovery ahead, the sale of the Gobbler was canceled, along with the planned series of concerts.

The property is once again up for sale at a price of $1.4 million.
