The Russ Darrow Group will be offering a complimentary Anti-Theft Software Upgrade Event to help better protect Kia vehicles from theft. The event will take place at Russ Darrow Kia of Madison, located at 6525 W Odana Road, on Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

There have been social media “challenges” that encourage theft of certain Kia vehicles. These challenges are aimed at Kia vehicles equipped with a steel key and a “turn-to-start” ignition system. In response, a software upgrade has been developed that can be installed on vehicles to restrict operation of the vehicle’s ignition system should it be the subject of a break-in and theft attempt without the key.

This software upgrade will be available free of charge at the upcoming event. Window decals will also be provided that can be applied to vehicles to discourage break-ins. Russ Darrow Kia of Madison will be providing refreshments and small giveaways to customers.

Information on vehicle eligibility for this software upgrade is available here. Kia vehicles equipped with a Kia Genuine Remote Start Accessory may need an additional software update.
