Sun Prairie-based Royle Printing Co. has purchased the printing operation formerly kept in-house by W.D. Hoard & Sons Co., a publishing company in Fort Atkinson.
W.D. Hoard will permanently lay off 33 employees from its heatset web printing operation, which is merging with Royle. However, Royle is planning to interview all of the affected employees in an effort to fill 15 to 25 openings.
Sixty-five W.D. Hoard employees will remain in Fort Atkinson as part of the company’s publishing operations. Its newspapers and magazines will not be affected by the sale.
Royle currently employs 205 workers in Sun Prairie.
