This Sunday, Aug. 13, the UW Carbone Cancer Center is set to hold its annual Roll and Stroll for Pancreas Cancer, Channel3000 reports. The event — now in its 10th year — will take place at Middleton’s Capital Brewery at 7734 Terrace Ave.
The Roll and Stroll event is organized by the Pancreas Cancer Task Force and works to fund pancreas cancer research as well as support cancer patients at Carbone. This year’s fundraising goal is $200,000. The event will be dedicated to late former UW–Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank, who passed away this year after battling pancreas cancer herself.
Pancreas cancer is the third leading cause of all cancer-related deaths in the state and nationwide; only around 10% of those diagnosed live more than five years.
Day-of registration and check-in for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants can choose a 50K, 25K, or 5K bike ride; a 5K run; or a two-mile toll and stroll open to walkers, scooters, wheelchairs, skateboards, and dogs.
Additional event features will include music, raffles, games, and food. Online registration and additional information are available here.
