The 2025 Wisconsin State Health Assessment adds more fuel to the debate over health care costs in the United States, finding that growing expenses for care lead people to avoid medical treatment.
According to the report, as shared by Wisconsin Public Radio, a little over 10% of adults did not see a doctor when they needed to due to cost. This is the same as reported in the last assessment in 2020.
About 94% of Wisconsin residents had health insurance as of 2023, also similar to 2020. Broken down further, 86% of residents under the federal poverty level reported to have health insurance. Those 200% above the poverty level have insurance at a rate of 96%.
