Dane County Board Supervisor Rick Rose is officially running for Wisconsin State Assembly, vying to earn the role as representative for the new Assembly District (AD) 48. Rose is currently serving his second term on the board, where he represents the far east side of the county in District 16. Much of that district falls within AD 48, which also comprises much of Sun Prairie and Columbus, adding a small part of Dodge County to the largely Dane district.

Rose is a 21-time Emmy award winning producer based on Madison’s east side. He is an entrepreneur, a current visiting instructor at Beloit College, an activist for children’s and women’s equal rights, and an advocate for those living with AIDS, addiction, abuse, and cancer. He served on the Wisconsin Statewide HIV/HCV Statewide Action Planning Group and co-chaired the Pride in Prevention Coalition addressing the opioid crisis in Dane County. He travels the country speaking on community grieving as a result of the impact of COVID-19.

Rose has volunteered for economic betterment projects and has led sustainability efforts in New York City, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Hannibal, Missouri, Shreveport, Louisiana, and now Madison. He is a court appointed special advocate for children living in foster homes, a role he has held for over 30 years across three states, including Wisconsin.

On the county board, Rose has introduced and sponsored over 250 pieces of legislation; all but two have been codified and are current laws in the county. He has served on the Public Protection and Judiciary, Equal Opportunity and Inclusion, UW Extension, Area Agency on Aging and its Legislative arm, Health and Human Needs Opioid Settlement, Personal, and Finance committees. He also has an appointment on Dane Arts.
