Rental property owner considers converting HotelRed to housing

Steve Brown Apartments, a company that owns rental properties in the Madison area, is seeking to convert the dormant HotelRed to housing, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal. The Camp Randall area hotel, at the corner of Regent and Monroe streets, has been closed since March 2020 and up for sale since the spring of 2021. A proposal from Steve Brown Apartments would convert the 48-room hotel into 50 apartments and about 3,000 square feet of commercial space.
