Madison and Dane County will end the acceptance of new applications in September for the Dane Core 2.0 rental assistance program, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The program has used up all of its available funding and will close the application portal on Sept. 15. The program began in October 2021 and replaced a previous rental assistance program supported by the Tenant Resource Center. Through Dane Core 2.0, the Community Action Coalition gives out rental assistance in Madison, while Urban Triage handles households outside of the city. The program will reopen if more federal aid is received. By mid-July of 2022, $34.73 million was spent to support about 5,750 different households.
