Forty-eight residents of The Gardens, a 10-story independent living facility overlooking Hilldale, have been notified they will need to vacate the premises by Dec. 29, according to a report from TheCapital Times. The facility’s prospective owner wants the building cleared out for extensive renovations before completing the purchase.
The demise of senior housing and services of the nonprofit Independent Living Inc. has affected The Gardens and several other senior living facilities in Madison. The nonprofit failed to pay off debt after a series of ill-fated decisions in recent years.
