Downtown Madison’s RED sushi restaurant is adding a lounge space next door in the high-rise building it has occupied since 2016, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The expansion will take over the former Barre Code studio space at 316 W. Washington Ave.

Matt Tills from Knothe & Bruce Architects and Anastasia Craig from Pink House Designs are responsible for the new lounge space’s look. Under construction since March, the new space is scheduled to open in October. It will provide space for private events, which previously necessitated closing the restaurant and turning down reservations.

The new space adds an additional 5,000 square feet of space to the restaurant’s current 5,000 and will add dining room space, a private room, a main bar, a private dining room bar, a private events area, and more office space. It will add another 115 seats and has a 150-person capacity for standing receptions. The space can also be divided for smaller gatherings.

The restaurant anticipates a 20% revenue increase with the expansion.
