Madison’s Plan Commission on Monday approved Red Rock Saloon’s bid to raise its indoor capacity from 360 to 450 people, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The country-themed bar and restaurant plans to make minor changes to its interior to accommodate more people, such as widening its internal secondary door and removing a booth near the front entrance.
The project is set to take roughly six–eight weeks and occur outside of business hours. The Plan Commission also gave the OK to change Red Rock’s use under Madison’s zoning code from “restaurant-nightclub” to “nightclub”; with the change, the business’ interior capacity is not dependent upon the number of seats available.
Red Rock Saloon opened on West Johnson Street in 2014, moving to its current West Gorham Street location in 2021.
