The American Red Cross said in a statement it is “facing a severe blood shortage.”

Blood supplies have been down about 35% in the past month. The shortage is worse for platelets and types O, A negative and B negative blood.

About 400 blood drives in Wisconsin were affected by winter weather last month — more than three times the number of blood drives affected during the same time the previous year.

Those who give blood through Jan. 25, will be automatically entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California.
