Quivey’s Grove, one of the area’s most venerable restaurants, is being put up for sale, according to a report in The Capital Times.

The 39-year-old Fitchburg restaurant, which is housed in two historic buildings, is owned by Deirdre Garton and Craig Kuenning, who are both over 70 and are ready to retire. Garton says the restaurant, located at 6261 Nesbitt Road, is still profitable despite the disruption of ongoing construction on Verona Road, and adds that she and Kuenning will continue to operate Quivey’s Grove until a buyer is found.

The property consists of a fieldstone mansion called the Stone House for larger gatherings, as well as the Stable Grill, a more casual dining option.

While the owners are working with a broker to finalize an asking price, the value of the restaurants and the adjacent parking lot is estimated to be $1 million.
