WEC Energy Group’s proposed 672-acre data center campus in Port Washington will hold public hearings on Tuesday, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

The PSC is the state’s utility regulator. The data center poses a huge energy demand of nearly 1.3 gigawatts. This energy is equal to over 800,000 residences.

The commission will listen to public comment on We Energies’ request for an approval on a new tariff agreement, which would create a special energy rate structure for the data center.

The aim is to ensure the project owner pays costs associated with the project, and not the public.
