Bon Appétit magazine named Madison’s Public Parking, a bar that opened at 711 E. Johnson St. last October, among its 2025 Best New Bars in the U.S., Madison Magazine reports. Eight other bars, located in Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Houston, made the list as well.
JR Mocanu, a veteran of Madison’s cocktail scene, owns the bar in the Tenney-Lapham neighborhood with Jack Yip, the co-owner of RED and Jacknife, two local sushi restaurants.

The business also recently made the 2025 top 10 list for Best U.S. Cocktail Bar-U.S. Central in the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s Spirited Awards, and a Punch Best New Cocktail Bar of 2024.
