PSC Biotech of California recently purchased the former Mentor Biologics building in University Research Park and has created a subsidiary, BioTechnique, that will use the building for its contract-manufacturing operations. The company promised to create a minimum of 103 local jobs by 2017.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. provided a $1 million low-interest loan to help with the acquisition, and PSC Biotech reportedly invested $11.5 million to purchase and partially equip the two-story building. The facility’s state-of-the-art equipment will allow the company to inject sterile vials with medicine, a new growth area for the company.
