Dane County Sup. Shelia Stubbs has introduced an ordinance amendment that aims to prohibit racial discrimination based on hairstyles in county workplaces, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

The amendment would ban discrimination based on traits historically associated with race, including hair. According to Stubbs, Black people are often judged because of their hair. According to a 2019 study by beauty product company Dove, Black women are 1.5 times more likely to be sent home from work because of their hair.
