SARA Investment Real Estate is looking to redevelop the site at 306 S. Brearly St., currently home to Italian delicatessen and sandwich shop Alimentari, replacing the current building with a six-story structure, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The proposed building would have 1,500–2,000 square feet of commercial space on its first floor, roughly 122 market-rate apartments — a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units — and about 130 enclosed parking stalls, including five public spaces.
Alimentari’s owner, Dan Bonanno, who opened the business with Bonnie Arent and his brother, Enrico Bonanno, in 2018, said they need to be out by the end of the year and are seeking a new east side location. They also are in the process of opening a near west side location on Monroe Street in a 3,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Roman Candle Pizza.
