Proposal: Rehab the Municipal Building

Madison Mayor Paul Soglin and Ald. Mike Verveer are getting behind a proposal to renovate the aging Madison Municipal Building downtown to the tune of $30 million, with $4 million already budgeted this year, and $26 million earmarked over the next four years.

Less extensive and expensive options were considered, but the conclusion was that a substantial, full rehabilitation effort would be most cost effective and least intrusive on workers and the community.

A resolution will be submitted May 19 to the City Council. It if moves forward a final decision would come in June, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
