Prominent Black activist and community leader James Graham Jr. has died

James C. Graham Jr., a prominent Black activist and former CEO of the Urban League of Greater Madison, died Sept. 4, according to a statement from the organization.

Graham served as the organization’s CEO between 1977 and 1983. Among starting many initiatives, his accomplishments included a program to help students earn their GEDs, an ex-offender reintegration program, and an apprenticeship program to build the skilled labor force.
