Columbia County authorities have identified the two men who drowned in the Wisconsin River last week as Akash Selvam, 24, and Jerome Schreiner, 25, Channel3000 reports. Both men worked for Madison biotechnology company Promega and were participating in a team outing on the river at the time of the accident.
Officials said the two men were playing catch on a sandbar last Thursday afternoon, when one of them was pulled underwater attempting to chase after their ball. The second man went under while trying to help the first man resurface.
Schreiner’s body was recovered several hours later, and Selvam’s was recovered around 10 a.m. the following morning.
