What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your job and why?

The most challenging aspects of my job are breaking through barriers and finding ways to make introductions with decision-makers. Everyone is busy and has different priorities, so it’s important to bring value to these conversations by utilizing the resources, information, and expertise BMO provides. The most rewarding aspects are the relationships I build throughout the process, while bringing new ideas and solutions to help individuals and companies achieve their goals.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

A recent highlight has been joining the BMO team in Madison, surrounding myself with a powerful network, and becoming more familiar with the Madison community. Madison is a diverse, unique, and strong business community, and I’ve had the pleasure to meet so many amazing people. I look forward to continually building relationships and becoming more active in the community.

Thinking back on your career, what advice would you give your 21-year-old self?

The first [piece of advice] would be to always raise your hand for opportunities, as you never know what they will lead to, and you will gain experience and exposure along the way. The second is to network internally and externally — the relationships you build will go a long way and will likely lead to future opportunities. Lastly, I would tell myself to be humble and hungry, never getting too far ahead of yourself and always having a strong desire and drive.

The things that mean the most to me are the thriving economy, quality of life, culture, and community. Dane County [has] great companies across different industries that continue to innovate, grow, and drive opportunities. The quality of life is second to none, [supporting] active lifestyles and surrounded by the natural beauty of the lakes, parks, and outdoor activities.

Do you have any secret talents or abilities that people would be surprised to discover?

If I’m not in the office, I’m likely participating in an outdoor recreational activity, whether it’s golfing, hiking, or camping across the state or at national parks with my wife, or bird hunting with my chocolate lab.
