Producer price index up 11.3%

Adding to the historic consumer price index increase of 9.1% reported earlier this week, inflation as measured by producer wholesale prices was up 11.3% for the year ending June 30, 2022, according to the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. Economists say the data could create more urgency for the Federal Reserve to aggressively raise interest rates to get inflation under control.
