Printmaker Jay Handy presents his latest exhibit, “Madison Waters,” as part of the broader showcase, “Water and Bricks,” at Overture Center’s Gallery II. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 19, from 5:30–8:30 p.m. It will feature an artist talk on the Rotunda Stage at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Handy brings a collection of artworks that delve into the human experience. Rooted in Madison, each piece centers on life’s challenges in a nuanced exploration of nostalgia and tension.
Handy has made significant contributions to the international project, “Colors of Resilience.” As part of this initiative, Handy’s work has inspired individuals facing mental health challenges to find solace through the arts. In March, his pieces will be showcased in London at the Hellenic Residence and alongside the permanent exhibition of George Seferis at the historic “Seferis Office.”
