In a nationwide survey of 6,500 restaurant owners conducted by the National Restaurant Association between April 10–16, the Wisconsin restaurant and food service industry says it will lose more than $630 million in sales in April if the trends continue through the end of the month, according to a statement from the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.
Eighty-four percent of Wisconsin restaurant operators reported that they have laid off or furloughed employees since the beginning of the outbreak, resulting in an average reduction of 81 percent of total staff. Additionally, 97 percent of operators say their total dollar sales volume between April 1 and April 10 was lower than it was during the same period in 2019.
