A recent Marquette University Law School poll found that support for safer-at-home business closures may be declining, although most Wisconsinites still back the measures.
The survey also found the largest changes in opinion among Republicans surveyed with 69% saying closures were appropriate and 26% feeling they are an overreaction. In March, 86% of Republican respondents agreed with the orders while only 10% disagreed. Democrats are still 90% in agreement of the closures, down from 95% agreement in March.
Among both parties, 56% of respondents were concerned that Wisconsin would reopen too early and 40% feel the state is reopening soon enough. Evers’ handling of the pandemic is still widely supported with a 64% approval rating, down from 76% in March, while approval of President Trump’s handling of the pandemic dropped from 51% to 44%.
