Madison print collective Polka! Press has moved into a new home on Winnebago Street, Isthmus reports.

Previously known as Madison Print Cooperative, Polka! was originally housed in the basement of Nature’s Bakery Co-Op and operated out of a Fordem Avenue location for over 10 years.

The new spot on Winnebago Street will provide enhanced accessibility and visibility for Polka!. The cooperative held an open house in June and launched a GoFundMe to cover moving costs and raise funds for more equipment and supplies.

The studio features a two-story high ceiling and offers equipment for woodblock printing, paper and textile screenprinting and letterpress; table space, an exposure unit, drying racks, a washout station and drawers of wood and lead type; and an old furnace area now converted into a screenprinting dark room.

Polka! is still seeking additions to its inventory and applied for a grant from Dane Arts for a tunnel dryer, which accelerates the drying process for fabric. It is also looking to add more lighting and color-correcting lights.
