Gov. Tony Evers and Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes have announced a package of legislation to increase accountability and transparency in policing in Wisconsin.

The proposed legislative changes include establishing statewide use-of-force standards for all law enforcement agencies, additional training requirements, a grant program for organizations utilizing evidence-based outreach and violence interruption strategies to mediate conflicts, the prohibition of chokeholds, and additional accountability reporting of demographic information of incidents reported to the Department of Justice.
