Pleasant Rowland, founder of American Girl, has donated $5 million to help the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County launch a multimillion-dollar campaign to develop a workforce center to train young people for jobs in skilled trades, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The Regional Workforce and Entrepreneurship Center, which is scheduled to open in summer of 2022, will provide technical training for youth to become electricians, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other skilled trades workers. The Boys & Girls Club wants to raise $35 million over five years to create an endowed fund to support its educational programs.
