Boundaries have been recommended for a new mixed-use tax incremental finance district that could bring $2.2 million in potential improvements on the village’s south side, according to an article in the Cambridge News/Deerfield Independent. The Deerfield Planning Commission/Economic Development Committee has recommended the new TIF District No. 7 have the same borders as a former village TIF district that’s being dissolved.
If the Deerfield Village Board approves the recommendation on July 12 and a joint review board follows suit on Aug. 9, the new TIF would encompass 23.5 acres west of State Highway 73 and south of Washburn Avenue. It includes a strip mall containing the Pickle Tree restaurant and Brown’s Heating and Cooling and a site on Autumn Wood Parkway that Lakestone Properties wants to develop into townhouse-style apartments.
