Madison Property Management wants to raze nine buildings now used for student housing in the 500 block of West Washington Avenue and replace them with a six-story housing project, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal. The proposed six-story structure, which would be build five blocks from the State Capitol, would provide 132 to 140 housing units and 160 underground parking stalls.
The proposal would be evaluated with the city’s “Mifflandia” Neighborhood Plan in mind. The plan, adopted in 2019, identifies the area between West Dayton and West Main streets and North and South Bedford and Broom streets as a place that merits special attention and a separate process to evaluate design and development.
