The University of Wisconsin-Madison will renovate three Lakeshore residence halls this fall, pending approval from the state, the Cap Times reported

The project will cost $79.2 million and add air conditioning, as well as other improvements, but will temporarily reduce beds by about 40 during construction. And the halls Kronshage, Jorns and Humphrey will permanently lose 18 beds.

The university is already facing a housing problem. Last fall, dorms were at 116% capacity. To combat the issue, the campus has turned double rooms into triple rooms and converted study rooms into resident rooms.
