Plan for 84-unit downtown apartment building on hold

A plan to raze three century-old buildings in a downtown historic district to make way for a seven-story, 84-unit apartment building at the corner of Henry Street and Iota Court was referred indefinitely by the Madison Plan Commission. The city’s Landmarks Commission had already criticized the project for being inconsistent with the neighborhood. The referral allows developer Chris Houden to make significant changes and try again.
